Product Hunt Launch
Plan and execute a Product Hunt launch: positioning, assets, launch-day playbook, and follow-through.
The route
5 steps to Done
- 01
Nail the positioning
Everything else derives from a sharp problem/outcome statement.

Develop the Product Hunt positioning for my product. I will paste what my product does below. Produce: the core problem in one sentence from the user's perspective; the outcome promise in one sentence; three tagline options under 60 characters (no 'best way to' cliches); a 260-character description leading with the problem; and the single differentiator versus the obvious alternative. Ask me clarifying questions if my input is too vague. MY PRODUCT: [describe your product here]
- ✓ The problem statement is user-perspective, not feature-speak
- ✓ Taglines fit under 60 characters
- ✓ A clear differentiator is stated
- 02
Plan the gallery assets
Visitors judge in seconds - every asset must carry one message.

Create the Product Hunt gallery plan for my product. Produce a shot list of 5-7 assets in order: the first image (the hook - what it shows and its overlay text), followed by assets each demonstrating ONE key capability with its caption, and an optional demo video outline (30-60 seconds, scene by scene with narration lines). Every asset must show the real product UI. Include image dimensions and text-overlay copy for each.
- ✓ The first image works as a standalone hook
- ✓ Each asset carries exactly one message
- ✓ Video outline has scenes and narration

Write the maker's first comment
The first comment sets the story and invites engagement.

Write my Product Hunt maker's first comment. Structure: the personal origin story (why I built this - 2-3 sentences, genuine); the problem seen in the world; what the product does differently; what launched today specifically; an honest note on what is next; and a question inviting the community's input. Keep it under 200 words, human tone, no marketing superlatives. Then produce two shorter variants (100 words, 60 words).
- ✓ The story feels personal, not corporate
- ✓ It ends with a genuine question
- ✓ All variants are within their word limits
- 04
Build the launch-day playbook
Momentum is scheduled, not hoped for.

Create my Product Hunt launch-day playbook. Produce an hour-by-hour schedule from 00:01 PT: when to post, when to notify my network (with 3 message templates for DMs, email, and social that do NOT beg for upvotes - share, don't solicit), comment response cadence, and reply templates for: praise, feature requests, bug reports, pricing questions, and competitor comparisons. Include a 'do not do' list (vote rings, upvote begging) and metrics to track hourly.
- ✓ Outreach templates share rather than solicit votes
- ✓ Reply templates cover the five comment types
- ✓ The schedule covers the full 24 hours
- 05
Run the pre-launch checklist
Catch the embarrassing misses before going live.

Generate my final pre-launch checklist and walk me through verifying each item: product page loads fast and works logged-out; signup works end to end; the landing page matches the launch messaging; analytics/tracking installed; gallery assets uploaded in order; tagline and description final; first comment ready to paste; team/supporters briefed with the schedule; a fallback plan if something breaks mid-launch (who fixes, how to communicate). Mark each item DONE only after actual verification.
- ✓ Signup was tested logged-out today
- ✓ All assets are uploaded and ordered
- ✓ A mid-launch breakage plan exists
